There are 34 staff in the two genebanks, with 144 senior or medium-level researchers. They are responsible for cleaning, germinating, drying, packing and storing processes of stored seeds multiplied throughout the country. Up to the end of 2000, a total of 335,000 accessions of gernplasm resources had been stored in the genebank.

A database with 24 million data items has been established by computerizing the passport data, characterization data and evaluation data of all germplasm resources stored in the genebank.
