Target group

Entry qualifications  

B.Sc. degree or equivalent in extension or related science; At least 3 years practical experience in extension or closely related professional area; competence in English.

Finance       

Course fee: NLG 9,000; Accommodation at additional cost of approx NLG 110 per day. Some fellowships available from the Netherlands Fellowships Program (NFP) via the Netherlands Embassies early application  recommended.

 

Other comments         

Objectives: Participants have increased their understanding of the tasks and role of extension managers, their capacity to analyse and solve problems, and their motivation to explore management alternatives. Subjects: Basic principles of extension; Agricultural Knowledge Systems; Rapid Rural Appraisal methodology; the organizational setting; monitoring and evaluation; extension performance , supervision and decision-making. Modes of instruction: Preparatory task assignment, learning needs essessment, field visits, workshops, group learning exercises, lectures. Student examinations: Self-assessment, interviews, course monitoring sessions, design of individual action plans. Cooperating organizations: Research and training institutions of the Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries.
